Yes, quite a few hours have passed. But I finally made it to the blog. Once again. I'm always running experiments. Apparently, experiments are more important to me than the result. This time I'm writing from a phone. I even managed to set up photo insertion and an external keyboard, though it was a fair bit of a hassle. Still haven't sorted everything out: for instance, if you type fast, there's a problem in the Russian layout. The thing is, the comma is typed with Shift, and after it you have to put a space. You don't always manage to let go of Shift, and in Android Shift + Space doesn't put a space. Android still has a long way to grow to become a fully-fledged workstation, frankly speaking.
On the other hand, it could be that spelling will change under the pressure of devices. While I was messing around, I discovered a bunch of unpleasant things about my new Google Pixel 4. It turned out it doesn't support the open standard for casting the screen to other devices — Miracast. This feature was axed in Android quite a while ago, in version 7 or thereabouts. In phones from other companies screen casting is usually present — they add it themselves.
For its own phones, Google has also removed the ability to connect external monitors and TVs via USB cable. All this is so reminiscent of Apple and Microsoft (in bygone years) that it's even funny. The corporation of good is neatly and systematically becoming the main corporation of evil. It destroys open standards, takes over the market with its proprietary crap, like Chromecast and web standard violations. Embrace, Extend, Exterminate, all by the book.
